Dear Friends,
In recent days and weeks, you kindly reached out to the ISCV to express solidarity with the Charlottesville Muslim community. Today, we are writing to you to thank you for taking the time to stand in solidarity with us.
While your expressions of solidarity took different forms, such as words of inspiration and support, food drive contributions, monetary donations, stopping by to introduce yourself, and expressing interest in having your family and kids interact with Muslims, they each had a big impact on how we have felt. Your acts of support and kindness demonstrated the genuine care that many members of the community feel towards Muslims. They reminded us that while we are going through tough times and anticipate upcoming challenges, we are not alone in this journey. Instead, there are people like yourselves who hold their values so dear that they would not waiver to stand in solidarity with those who may be targeted because of their religion, race, etc.
As members of one shared community, we each have a collective duty to play an active role in shunning acts of discrimination and hate. A duty to stand up for our morals and values and to defend them. A duty to keep our community the rich mosaic that it is and not to turn it into a society that is ever so unconscious of the different cultures and religions that contribute to its beautiful plurality.
As we move forward together in the coming days, weeks and months ahead, we hope that we will be able to continue counting on your support and to meet many of you at our beautiful mosque. Thank you for welcoming us into your family and please consider the mosque your second home.
With much gratitude and respect,
ISCV Outreach
