ISCV Board Elections 2022

Elections for the ISCV Board of Trustees are almost here! This is an opportunity for you to run for a position or nominate someone else to serve the community as a board member. All of our daily, weekly and yearly programming and events are dependent on active community members volunteering their time as Board members. InshaAllah it will be a rewarding experience for you. In order to vote or run for a position, you must be a regular member of the ISCV.

Election Timeline:
1.) Sunday May 8th – Friday May 20th: Nomination Period.
Nominations will be accepted during this time. Please use this nomination form to either nominate yourself or someone that you think will be a good fit for the positions listed below. An individual may be nominated for multiple positions.
2.) Sunday May 22nd: Acceptance Deadline.
Individuals nominated for a Board of Trustees position(s) will be informed by email of their nomination. All nominees must accept their nomination by May 22nd to be on the ballot. Instructions on how to accept a nomination will be provided in the email mentioned above.
3.) Friday May 27th: Election Day
ISCV regular members will be able to cast their votes for the ISCV elections. This year, members will be able to cast their votes in one of two ways:
  • In person voting: Regular members will be able to vote in person after Jummah Prayer.
  • Online voting: Regular members will be able to vote online through our membership website, memberplanet.com.

Further details on how to vote either in person or online will be released at a later date.

4.) Sunday May 29th: Election Results. Votes will be tallied up by our election committee and the new board members will be announced on this date. We have five positions that are up for election this year for the ISCV Board of Trustees 2022-2024 term:
  • 1.) President - The President or Chairperson of the Board of Trustees supervises all the business of the corporation, presides at all meetings of the Board, ensures the execution of the decisions by the Board, takes any and all action to protect the interest of ISCV.
  • 2.) Treasurer - The Treasurer should manage all funds, financial affairs, financial records, and securities of the corporation.
  • 3.) Youth Secretary – The Secretary for Youth and Student Affairs should foster interaction between students studying in Charlottesville or Albemarle County and ISCV, and promote activities for youth in the community in coordination with the Activities Coordinator.
  • 4.) Activities Coordinator – The Activities Coordinator will organize or approve all activities inside the masjid, provide speakers for Friday prayers, take responsibility for all ISCV sanctioned Daawah related activities.
  • 5.) Outreach Coordinator – The Outreach Coordinator will organize or approve all ISCV's outdoor activities, generate publicity for ISCV foster interactions with  non-Muslim community and ISCV,  maintain links between ISCV and the refugee communities.

We need you to volunteer!

Assalaamu alaikum everyone,

We are in need of volunteers! Running any masjid takes the involvement of many people; the ISCV Board works hard to keep the masjid running and to develop programming, but for our community to thrive we need you all to volunteer your time to the masjid.

We are particularly in need of:
  • Liaisons with the immigrant and refugee communities;
  • Liaison with Islamic Relief USA;
  • Co-moderators for virtual discussions;
  • Volunteers to head youth activities;
  • Volunteers for Ramadan, especially for food delivery;
  • People to head a support group for new Muslims.

To volunteer, please add your name to the following google document: https://bit.ly/ISCVCallForVolunteers

Jazakum Allah khair!
