ISCV Elections for Board of Trustee 2018-2020
Elections for the ISCV Board of Trustees are almost here! This is an opportunity for you to run for a position and serve the community through service. InshaAllah it will be a rewarding and humbling experience for you and you will help advance the state of the community.
Election Timeline:
1.) Friday April 13th - Friday April 27th: Nomination Period. Nominations will be accepted during this time and nominees will be notified. They will have until Friday April 27th to accept their nominations and be able to run on a ballot.
2.) Saturday May 5th: Election Day. Voting will be open to ISCV paying members from 12 pm to 3pm at the masjid and will only be done in person.
3.) Saturday May 5th: Election Results. Votes will be tallied up by our election committee and the new board members will be announced.
We have five positions that are up for re-election this year for the ISCV Board of Trustees 2018-2020 term. Please use this nomination form to either nominate yourself or someone that you think will be a good fit for the following positions:
1.) President - The President of the ISCV has an important responsibility of supervising all activities and involvements of the ISCV. They are to ensure that the mission and values of the ISCV are being fulfilled. It is the president’s responsibility to ensure that the rest of the board is focused on addressing and improving the needs of the community to the best of their ability.
2.) Vice President – The Vice President of the ISCV assists the President in supervising the activities and involvements of the ISCV. The Vice President assumes responsibilities of the President in the latter’s absence.
3.) Treasurer - The Treasurer is responsible for the financial affairs, budget, records, and securities of the ISCV. The Treasurer is also responsible for coordinating tax matters with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and government bodies and ensuring that tax receipts are issued in a timely manner.
4.) Outreach Secretary– The Outreach Secretary is responsible for coordinating visits for people of other faiths and no faith to the mosque and educating them about the teachings of Islam and the local Muslim community. The Outreach Secretary also fosters relationships with representatives from other organizations and handles external communications for the ISCV.
5.) Activities Coordinator– The Activities Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily congregational and Friday prayers and advancing the Islamic knowledge of Muslim members through initiating various study circles, programs and activities. The Activities Secretary also coordinates Islamic religious festivities and ceremonies.
In order to run for a position, you must be a due paying member of the ISCV for at least one year. It is highly recommended that you have prior experience on the ISCV board to run for the position of President.
