If you are interested in having a wedding ceremony conducted at ISCV, the following procedure is required:
- Leave a message with the ISCV office at 434-260-1253 to schedule a planning appointment with the Imam. The Imam will discuss the Islamic marriage tradition with the prospective couple and familiarize them with the procedures involved in holding a ceremony at the ISCV building. In order to fully understand the needs and expectations of the participants, the Imam will always request to meet bride, groom, and both families, and will frequently require multiple meetings.
- Both bride and groom must obtain a valid Virginia marriage license. Marriage licenses are issued by the Clerk of a Circuit Court. A couple may go to any circuit court in Virginia to obtain this license. The Charlottesville Circuit Court is located at: 315 East High Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. ISCV will never, under any circumstances, be able to host a wedding ceremony unless both parties have a valid Virginia wedding license.
- Schedule a time and date for the ceremony. Depending on the size and scope of the ceremony, this may require coordination with ISCV administration and a rental fee for use of the facilities.
- There is no fee charged for officiating the wedding; however, it is customary to make an offering to ISCV’s operations fund.
